Life and family
Author, speaker, and coach Bodo Schäfer was born on September 10, 1960, to religious parents in the archdiocese city of Cologne. As a "money coach," he now deals with topics such as prosperity, money, and positioning.
Due to his upbringing, Schäfer had long had an ambivalent relationship with money, because having too much money—as he had been taught—was bad and corrupted one's character. As a result, despite earning a good income during his studies and afterwards, he spent more money than he had. The result: at the age of 26, Bodo Schäfer was heavily in debt. With the help of a coach, he learned the principles of personal development, determination, and perseverance. The result of his transformation? Financial freedom at the age of 30. Today, he is married with three children and is a successful best-selling author, entrepreneur, and coach.
Career and education
After attending high school in Cologne, Bodo Schäfer moved to the USA at the age of 16 and attended high school there. After returning to Germany, he completed his Abitur (A-levels) in Darmstadt and began studying law. However, shortly before his exams, he changed his mind and dropped out of university. What his family perceived as an act of failure was, for him, the first step towards success. At that point, Bodo Schäfer was already earning a living from three self-employed businesses. Among other things, he worked for an insurance company and ran an import-export business. However, his ambivalent relationship with money led him to bankruptcy once again. He describes the knowledge he had to acquire in order to get back on his feet and ultimately become successful as "street smarts." However, the financial freedom he achieved at the age of 30 was not to be the end of his career, because there was a gap that needed to be filled. His decision: to enable others to experience the same growth that he himself had experienced.
Initially dismissed as a crackpot, he still believes that anyone can build up private wealth. The greatest confirmation of this belief for him is the success of his seminar participants and customers. Along the way, he has received invitations to numerous conferences, lectures, and media appearances, as well as a private audience with Pope John Paul II, who blessed him and his book.
occupation
Bodo Schäfer began his career as an author and public speaker back in 1990. He finally published his international bestseller "The Road to Financial Freedom: Your First Million in 7 Years" in 1998, selling over 10 million copies. The FAZ newspaper attributed an avant-garde role to Schäfer and his bestseller. This was followed by the successful children's book about money, "A Dog Named Money." In addition to his writing career, Schäfer founded several companies. Today, he is particularly successful with the Bodo Schäfer Akademie GmbH and attributes a significant part of his success to the overwhelmingly positive reviews from financial experts and business journalists. He has now expanded his offering to include online seminars and telephone coaching with more than 200 trainers.
However, as a financial expert, Bodo Schäfer also knows that money alone does not bring happiness. After a long illness, he got back on his feet and is now more convinced than ever that money is not the only thing that matters and that everyone is responsible for their own happiness.
