About price and profit, or "Was it worth it?"

Has it really been a year already?

Indeed! A year ago, I attended my first intensive seminar at the Grundl Leadership Institute—I remember well where I was at the time. Intensive seminars were added, along with implementation calls, exchanges with trainers and managers, and self-study in the online learning environment. It is not the pure transfer of knowledge that drives me, but the impetus for an inner development process that will hopefully last a lifetime. Because if growth and change are not life, then what is? What is life for you?

Awareness and responsibility

I am often asked what I actually do at the seminars. How can I describe this inward gaze, this discovery of unconscious spaces? When I look inward without distraction from the outside world, I take sole responsibility my perception. If you have already attended an intensive seminar, you know this feeling: you become aware of things, you take responsibility you tap into your power. If you have not yet attended a seminar, I highly recommend it. Dare to look inward, guided and accompanied by experts! This journey is worthwhile and precious.

Success and fulfillment

"Isn't that expensive?" "Is it worth it?"—I hear these questions all the time. Yes, I could have bought something else. A used car, a luxury vacation, a laptop with a smartphone. And then what?

This reminds me of an experience from my childhood: I was in the sixth grade at a secondary school. Like many students, I struggled not only with my academic performance, but also with teachers and classmates. This made me look forward to our family vacation in Spain all the more. We drove to the sea. I wanted to leave my school difficulties at home and throw myself into the sea and into life. When we arrived at the sea, I was overcome with bitter disappointment. The feeling I had hoped for did not materialize. It soon dawned on me why: I had taken MYSELF on vacation with me.

Since then, I have known that a new car, a house, or a luxury vacation would neither satisfy me nor change my life in the long term. And a year ago, I learned that the same applies to success. Success tastes bland when fulfillment is lacking. Success and fulfillment have nothing to do with each other.

Price and profit

As a doctor, I have a lot of contact with people who suffer from burnout. I know the process involved in such illnesses: sick leave, medication, therapy, hospital stays. With the costs incurred by the days of absence (losses for both the individual and his or her company), medication, outpatient therapy costs, and inpatient stays, you could buy a used car or enjoy a luxury vacation. Not to mention the miserable quality of life! "But I have health insurance," some may argue. Yes, fortunately we all do. But who pays the premiums?

Have you ever noticed that you value something you have to pay for yourself much more than something someone else pays for you? We all put much more energy into things that have cost us our hard-earned money. It's not the price in dollars that determines the value of something, but the desire to make something of it.

For me, the year with Grundl was worth every penny—looking inward, becoming aware of the unconscious, exposing sources of influence, and responsibility . I didn't want to go to an esoteric self-discovery seminar or succumb to the deceptive intoxication of good feelings at events, nor did I want to start inpatient therapy. I wanted depth, insight, and freedom. And, yes, less pain. I longed for development, sustainability, and independence. That's why I chose the Grundl Leadership Institute.

Respect for the struggles of others

What I particularly appreciate about the Grundl Leadership Institute is not only Mr. Grundl himself and the richness of his life's work, but also the attitude of service of the entire Leadership Institute, which you experience there as a client. Everything is geared toward helping you grow, gain strength, and achieve greatness. This also includes recognizing things that cause pain—whether in a professional or private context. Some people find it difficult to recognize this because their own image obscures their view. Others fear shame. In my experience, Mr. Grundl and his team encourage you to look at yourself without judging. Recognition serves to help you take the next step. I was impressed by the great respect shown for the struggles of others. How good it feels to experience goodwill through non-judgment and to receive support through professional coaching.

Where are you in your life—in concrete terms?

After reading these lines, I ask you: Where do you stand in your life—in concrete terms? What challenges do you face? What causes you pain? What would you like to have more of in your life?

Are you ready to take the first step, or would you rather wait a little longer? Whatever you decide, weigh up the costs and benefits carefully. I wish you the courage to look yourself in the mirror and become aware of your potential.

Only you can do it—but you don't have to do it alone.

Yours sincerely, Dr. Melanie Schmidt
