Dirk Ranft, private citizen and former Senior Project Leader Restart AMOS LHA/LCAG at Lufthansa AG, talks in an interview about the simplicity and powerful impact of the Leading Simple© system and about the fulfillment that comes from developing other people.

Ranft: I have achieved my dream job. Even as a boy, I always had the goal of achieving certain things in aviation, and I have achieved that goal.

Why Leading Simple©?

GLI: Why did you choose Leading Simple©?

Ranft: I was leader a corporation where I managed units with up to 750 employees. As a trained communications engineer, I learned little about leadership, but more about technical expertise. At some point, I reached the point where I wanted to take on a leadership position, develop myself further, and advance my career. To do this, I needed a system for successful leadership. How could I find the most important levers for this? Through learning by doing, individual courses, or a system. I found what I was looking for with Boris Grundl—his system is easy to apply and effective. I like the charming simplicity of Leading Simple. What you learn from Boris Grundl is that strength comes from simplicity. The depth with which you deal with the individual elements gives rise to incredible energy and effectiveness in everyday life.

GLI: What have you achieved through Leading Simple©?

Ranft: Advancement within the management team. With my employees, I always achieved results that led to success. I consider my greatest personal success to be that many of my employees have developed further and now occupy positions above mine. That's nice to see. What I learned from Leading Simple helps me in all areas of life: in raising my children, in finances, and in health. Employees quickly notice when the mindfulness shown to them is not reflected in your own life. Then you are a bad role model and it is reflected back to you.

Insight & Hope

GLI: What was your biggest insight?

Ranft: You can tell by my gray hair—I'm getting on a bit. As an older person, you tend to overestimate your wealth of experience. Boris Grundl made me realize how I think about certain things. This method of observing yourself, accepting yourself more, questioning yourself, and not just saying, "Oh, you already know that." Suddenly, you gain a completely different perspective from the fact that Mr. Grundl says certain things and how he says them; things that are crystal clear and to the point. For example, I came to the important realization of how much distance and how much closeness I actually need with employees. I found the answer to the question: Where do I stand? Do I work in a results-oriented way or am I looking for success?

GLI: What are your expectations for this Grundl seminar?

Ranft: I hope to develop myself spiritually, challenge myself, and find things in my life that I find exciting again and that bring me fulfillment. I'm currently searching for something in my life and wondering what new things it will bring. Today, it's all about which results make sense and where the meaning behind them lies. That's exactly where I am right now, so I think it's extremely important for me to take that with me.

View of things

GLI: How has Grundl changed your perspective on things?

Ranft: I want to see where life can take me—after all, none of us knows how long we have to live. I want to develop myself further and start another company. In this company, I want to work with employees to responsibly implement many of the things I used leader as leader employed leader , thereby coming closer to the meaning of my life. Or to put the question another way: How do I want to serve others? I used to be driven by success. But when you take a closer look at the system, you feel that you have to get out – must or should, may, want to. Then the moments of fulfillment become greater and more lasting. You feel your effectiveness in the further development of others. Experiencing the growth of a person you have worked with and who has taken things from you brings much more fulfillment than climbing a certain hierarchical level.

GLI: Who would you recommend Grundl to?

Ranft: I recommend Grundl to anyone who wants to bring clarity into their life. To anyone who is ready for challenging intellectual pursuits, who wants to work with their mind, who wants to advance and challenge themselves further. You can't be too lazy to think when it comes to Boris Grundl. If you want to develop as a person, seek out your limits and overcome them, then Boris Grundl is the right choice for you.
