We at the Grundl Leadership Institute support the "Wheelchair Rugby Goes to School" initiative. We are happy to cover the transfer costs for a van with a sum of €12,000. From now on, this van will transport the sports wheelchairs from school to school.

responsibility : Under this motto, we and especially Boris Grundl have been supporting the team sport of wheelchair rugby for many years. As a former European vice-champion and Paralympics participant, he is particularly committed to the inclusion project "Wheelchair Rugby Goes to School." The initiative thrives on disabled and non-disabled children experiencing this team sport together. In order to continue transporting the sports equipment for the young people reliably from school to school, we are covering the necessary transfer fee of €12,000 for a van. The first €5,000 is being covered by Sparkasse Heidelberg.

The initiative "Rollstuhl Rugby macht Schule" (Wheelchair Rugby Goes to School), founded by Heiko Striehl, organizes inclusive physical education classes in schools: More than 5,000 children and young people—with and without disabilities—have already had the opportunity to try out this sport in a relaxed atmosphere.

Wheelchair as sports equipment

"This opportunity helps to break down inhibitions and barriers in the mind in a playful way," explains Heiko Striehl, who has been doing voluntary inclusion work for many years. "The wheelchair is perceived as a piece of sports equipment rather than an aid. Children who have experienced this feel less apprehensive and more empathy when they encounter a wheelchair user in everyday life."

Due to his accident and its consequences, Boris Grundl knows exactly how awkward people can be when dealing with wheelchair users. He also wants to give other affected people the chance to rediscover themselves. "responsibility not just a word for our institute and a core theme of our continuing education program" (www.grundl-institut.de), explains executive coach Boris Grundl. "Weresponsibility as a duty to people who need support. It's also a great pleasure to see the children whizzing around the hall."

"... then it rattles sometimes."

This project is so effective because it is tangible, adds Grundl. "Once the children have gotten used to the wheelchair, there's no holding them back. No trace of inhibitions or excessive caution. That's great. We are delighted to be able to continue supporting this project."
