What are you actually doing? After giving over 1,000 lectures and seminars, writing over 300 columns and 12 books, and filming more than 320 instructional videos, after over 20 years of intensive work on the subject of mental transformation, I regularly ask myself this question. What are you actually doing?

90% paralyzed

I review my life and my story in my mind's eye, searching for the essence of who I am. It began with a fateful leap from a cliff in Mexico that took almost everything from me. I was 90% paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair for the rest of my life. I had reached an absolute low point. Then came the mental transformation—a mental feat that ultimately led me to where I am today: a financially independent entrepreneur, a sought-after speaker, and author of several books.

Despite all this, I never stopped constantly questioning myself. In search of the content that really matters, I peeled away layer after layer, like an onion. I questioned myself critically, picked apart my own theories, thoughts, and content, and then put them back together again.

responsibility is at the heart of all mental development.

Finally, I found what I was looking for. I realized that the answer to the questions of where it all begins and what lies at the heart of all mental development responsibility simply responsibility . That is the core around which everything revolves.

More specifically, it is about taking responsibility what we focus our perception on and ultimately also for how we interpret what we perceive. Or, in other words, what story we associate it with and what effect this story then has on us and our feelings.

My own example illustrates this even more clearly. I like to ask seminar participants what they think I should focus my attention on: the 90% of my body that is paralyzed, or the remaining 10%. The answer is always clearly the 10% that I can influence. And that is the core of my insights, which I have gathered in over 20 years of intensive work and research and finallyresponsibility in my new book, zest for responsibility .
